About the Winery
Briefly tell us about Deer Creek Winery, when, and how it started?
We started in September of 2009 after my husband was laid off from his engineering job. We were looking for what the next chapter in our lives was going to be. We already owned this land. From there, we got a loan, wrote a business plan, and started by financing it that way. Within nine months, we were up and running. 16 years later, we have 4 retail locations and one other bed & breakfast that also doubles as a wedding venue.
What sets Deer Creek Winery apart from other wineries in the region? What wines are you best known for?
We release our Funtime wines every couple of weeks with our staple range of wines. We are an experience that brings people together in a relaxing, rejuvenating connection and environment.
Can you tell us a bit about the winemaking process here—do you source your grapes locally or from specific vineyards? And where can people get your wine outside of Clarion County?
We get our juice from grapes and fruit grown along Lake Erie. Denis and Bill are our winemakers. We make all of our wines in the warehouse in Shippenville, PA – where our flagship store and B&B is located. We make 300 to 1,000 gallons of any one flavor at a time. We distribute to all five other locations, various beer distributors, and stores, like Giant Eagle, Country Fair, Tops, and Tom’s Riverside.
The Experience
What can guests expect when they visit—are there tastings, tours, seasonal releases, or food pairings available? Do you serve food?
We offer free tastings with an interactive guide to help you discover the wines that you’ll love! We have a cafe with delicious fresh-made foods, including organic lettuce greens in many of them. Our most popular is our “Pizza Meal Deal,” which includes two salads, pizza, and a bottle of wine for only $39.99! We open at 11 o’clock, so come for lunch, bring your kids and play with the yard games that we have available, or have a surprise date!
The Inn Experience
Tell us about the Inn—what kind of accommodations and amenities can guests expect during their stay?
People feel relaxed and at home immediately at our Inn and Manor, which are just two different houses located on Brooks Estate. Whenever you check in, you’ll be greeted by our welcoming staff and a handwritten note with a piece of chocolate on your bed. They’ll prepare you for your stay by showing you the space, inside and out, including the tasting room, café space, and our outdoor space, which features nicely landscaped nooks where you can start a fire, play yard games, or sit on a porch swing.
How does staying overnight at the winery enhance the overall wine country experience for guests?

Whenever you’re here as an inn guest, you don’t have to worry about going out. It’s really a time to soak in the reconnection, to talk more about what’s going on in life.
Events & Atmosphere
You host quite a few events—what kinds of experiences can people enjoy here throughout the year?
Every week, we have our Variety Thursdays, Fireside Fridays, and Sunday Sip’n’Savor days. We often times have live music, bingo, trivia, karaoke, and more. If you’re looking to host an event or wedding, our space is equipped to do so. Be sure to stay up to date with our calendar as you plan your visit.
What’s the atmosphere like on the property—how would you describe the vibe for a weekend stay or an evening out?
From what customers have told me, the vibe is that it’s welcoming. It’s charming. It’s serene. It’s like being in a Hallmark movie – but you’re the main character.
Is your property wheelchair accessible?
Yes, our property is wheelchair accessible, as well as a number of our rooms.
Do you host weddings, romantic getaways, or special events?
Yes, all of these! What makes Deer Creek a favorite spot for these occasions? We keep it easy and the price at a good point. We’re easy to work with.
