Clarion Conservation District: Forestry Walk
Join the Clarion Conservation District, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Cook Forest Conservancy, Penn State Extension, and a forester from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for a forestry walk covering topics such as the benefits of trees pertaining to climate change such as forest carbon sequestration, impacts to soil temperature/health, and climatic history records that can found through tree ring analysis and other data; common invasive species and how to remove/ prevent them following integrated pest management (IPM) practices; and climate change impacts on tree species distribution/populations.
Directed towards 18+ years old. A FREE native tree and tree tube will be given to the first 25 Clarion County residents that register AND attend. 5 FREE kits for mechanical removal of invasive species will be raffled off at the program, eligible to Clarion County residents who attend and complete a post-program survey.
