Foxburg Hickory Championship
Travel back in time to the 135+ year old hickory style of golf. Last year’s competition hosted international players on the local and vastly historic Foxburg Country Club golf course.
The 2026 edition of the FHC includes the Foxburg Featherie Challenge on Thursday, Aug. 13. This is a nine-hole medal play event with divisions based on the count and array of entries. The entry fee for the Feathery Challenge is the nine-hole greens fee only. Awards are included with your FHC entry. A round of feather ball golf prior to the primary component of the hickory tournaments (especially guttie ball tournaments) is gaining in popularity. Several Oddball format events (events popularized by Denny and Cathy Lane whose tournament of the same name has been gaining more adherents) have emerged where the feather ball score is combined with your scores recorded with later period balls. More information on obtaining feather balls is included on the event information PDF, below.
The Foxburg Hickory Championship’s Pre-1900 and Post-1900 competitions are on Friday, Aug. 14 and 15. These are two days of 18-hole medal play. Practice rounds are encouraged on either Wednesday or Thursday. There is generally a considerable group attending the practice round days.
