As the final golden leaves fall from the trees and the air grows crisper, we find ourselves looking back on another breathtaking autumn here in Clarion County, after all, there is a good reason why Clarion holds the title The Autumn Leaf Capital of the World! This year, nature outdid herself—dressing the forests, rivers, and rolling hills in brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows that seemed to glow under the soft autumn sun. From cozy gatherings to festive celebrations and tranquil hikes, this fall season gave us memories to cherish, and we’re excited to share some highlights and photos with you.
The Unforgettable Colors of Fall
Fall in Clarion County is always beautiful, but this year’s display was truly exceptional. Peak foliage painted Cook Forest State Park and the Clarion River Valley in vivid hues that drew visitors from far and wide. Every drive, hike, and paddle down the river offered picture-perfect views that reminded us of the beauty in slowing down and soaking up each moment.
One of our favorite spots to take in the views was at the Seneca Point Overlook, where towering ancient trees framed the fall colors beautifully. Visitors who made it to the Cook Forest Fire Tower were treated to sweeping panoramic views of the vibrant landscape from above—a sight that’s both humbling and awe-inspiring. Other scenic spots included Foxburg and East Brady along the Allegheny River, as well as various overlooks along the Clarion River.
Festivities That Brought the Season to Life
This fall also marked the 71st annual Autumn Leaf Festival. It was a joy to see the streets bustling with a sea of people including families, friends, and visitors, who came together to celebrate the season. The festival offered something for everyone, from the craft fair showcasing local artisans to live music, carnival, delicious seasonal foods, and of course, the spectacular parade.
Other events included New Bethlehem’s Peanut Butter Festival, Foxburg Fall Festival, and Knox Horsethief Days. Our local farms and orchards were also busy throughout the season, offering fresh produce, pumpkins, apples, cider, corn mazes and hayrides that families could enjoy together. These gatherings at the pumpkin patches and corn mazes were a charming reminder of the simple pleasures fall brings.
Embracing the Outdoors
Here in Clarion County, fall is an invitation to get outside and explore, and this season’s mild weather made it easy to do just that. Whether it was hiking along quiet trails, paddling down the scenic rivers, or casting a line on a cool morning, the opportunities for outdoor adventure were endless.
Fishing along the rivers was a particular favorite among locals and visitors alike this fall, with the backdrop of vibrant foliage and the peaceful flow of the water creating the perfect escape. For those who preferred to stay on land, the numerous scenic trails across the county provided endless chances to marvel at the colors and enjoy the fresh autumn air and watching wild life.
